Custom Signs Whitby
Lakeridge Health Whitby opened in 1969 as Dr. J.O. Ruddy General Hospital, a combined medical and psychiatric facility that was the first of its kind in North America. Today the Whitby site has narrowed its clinical focus to mental health and addictions care while also housing Lakeridge Health's corporate and finance offices, part of a network serving all of Durham Region with more than 8,700 staff, physicians, and volunteers. The site is also a satellite campus for Queen's University's Family Medicine Program, adding a teaching and research dimension most Durham hospitals don't carry. That's one part of Whitby. Downtown along Brock and Dundas Streets, and the marina and Nordic-style spa village in Port Whitby, are two entirely different signage environments again.
We design, manufacture, and install signage entirely in-house, and we work with Whitby business owners online, by email and phone, rather than through a retail storefront.

Signage for Lakeridge Health Whitby and Surrounding Medical Offices
A specialty mental health and addictions campus with a corporate head office and a university teaching partnership attached needs signage across several distinct functions at once: clinical wayfinding, corporate office identification, and academic and research facility signage.

Downtown Whitby's heritage character along Brock and Dundas Streets carries additional design guidelines on top of the general bylaw. Properties near the Port Whitby waterfront may also fall under conservation authority review given their proximity to the lake, and the Lakeridge Health campus, as a specialty medical and administrative facility, may carry site-specific institutional signage requirements set by the health network.
