Custom Signs Oshawa

General Motors of Canada is headquartered in Oshawa, and its assembly plant here has one of the more dramatic comeback stories in recent Canadian manufacturing. GM closed the plant in 2019, laying off 2,500 union workers, then reversed course in 2020 with a $1.2 billion investment to retool it for Chevrolet Silverado production. The relaunch became one of the fastest plant startups in GM's history, and Oshawa Assembly is now the company's only assembly plant in Canada, running three shifts with roughly 3,200 hourly workers and having built more than 500,000 trucks since restarting. GM has continued investing, another $280 million and $63 million on top of the original retooling, more than $1.5 billion total since 2020. A short drive away, Ontario Tech University and Durham College share a single campus, and Lakeridge Health Oshawa, the largest hospital in Durham Region, anchors the city's healthcare sector.

We design, manufacture, and install signage entirely in-house, and we work with Oshawa business owners online, by email and phone, rather than through a retail storefront.

Signage for Oshawa's Automotive Manufacturing Sector

GM's assembly plant and the supplier network that surrounds it give Oshawa a genuine, large-scale manufacturing identity, and facilities at this scale need signage built for safety, process flow, and large workforces rather than customer-facing branding.

What we build for automotive and manufacturing facilities:

Completed work: outdoor signs portfolio.

Signage for the Ontario Tech University and Durham College Campus

A shared university and college campus brings a genuinely different signage need: wayfinding built for thousands of students navigating a facility for the first time, every September.

Lakeridge Health Oshawa, the largest hospital in Durham Region, and the retail and offices around Downtown Oshawa and Oshawa Centre, round out the city's commercial base with standard medical and retail signage needs.

What we build for these areas:

Oshawa Sign Permits

The City of Oshawa has its own sign bylaw, separate from Whitby, Ajax, or Toronto. Manufacturing facilities may carry site-specific safety and signage requirements set by the operator, on top of the general municipal bylaw. The Ontario Tech University and Durham College campus follows its own institutional signage standards for anything within campus grounds, separate from the city's general commercial sign rules.
